MCX - Charcoal Pieces

MCX - Charcoal Pieces

Title:MCX - Charcoal Pieces
Medium: Charcoal, Chalk, Ebony Pencil
Scale: Each piece is approx. 8" x 10"

Notes: Playing with different medias trying to get back to things that I used to do once upon a time, using the training that I've gained. These are a few pieces that I did over the past couple of weeks.

You've got, clockwise from top, Catwoman, Furiosa, Venom, and Spawn.

These were extremely fun to do and I want to just do a ton more!

Again, see you at Memphis Comic Expo on June 6 & 7 at the Agricenter!

MCX - Black Widow from Avengers

Avengers - Black Widow

Title: Avengers - Black Widow
Medium: Photoshop CS6
Scale: Approx. 5" x 7"

Notes: There was so much unfortunate controversy surrounding black widow and the toys that came out that I thought she would be the better of all the avengers to paint. I really think that her character is a bit interesting and surprisingly hasn't lost much since her earlier incarnation. She was meant to be a sex appeal character, and yet her outfit was never extremely flattering which I actually think is great. I'm kind of over the ridiculously over-sexual female character. But I think if you've followed my blog at all, you might know that from my designs of Cora and pretty much all the fan art I do.

Anyway... hope you enjoy this one! And again, I'll have a table at Memphis Comic Expo this year! Come hang out on June 6 & 7 at the Agricenter!

Fan Art Friday -- Double Feature

Fan Art Friday: Double Feature

Title: Fan Art Friday: Double Feature
Medium: Photoshop CS6

Notes: Two for one... both WIPs at the moment.
Okay, I know this is a bit of a foul for this week, but I am working on a ton of paintings all at the same time, and charcoal drawings, and concept art for other projects. It's a whirlwind of crazy this past week, but I will get it all done... or it will kill me. Either way, there's art on the way!

Medium: Photoshop CS6, Pencil, White Ink
Scale: Each 'page' is 11" x 17"

Notes: This is some behind the scenes work on the Honor Decoded pieces that I did for my BFA. These are all to be included -someday- in art book that I am compiling that tells the introductory tale of the entire world for the comic that Ashley and I are creating. Hopefully some day we will be able to release the entirety of the project to everyone, until then... more to come!

Self-Portrait Final

Illustration 6: Self-Portrait Final

Title: Illustration 6: Self-Portrait Final
Medium: Photoshop CS6

Notes: For the final class we were supposed to do a self-portrait that explains where we're going in the future. I think this pretty much sums it up. Digital painting to the maximum!

Fan Art Friday -- Samus Aran

Fan Art Friday: Samus Aran

Title: Fan Art Friday: Samus Aran
Medium: Photoshop CS6
Scale: Original is 12.5" x 18.75"

Notes: I did a demo recently all about my digital painting process.
Hopefully the few that came to see it actually learned a thing or two.

I took a vote a few days beforehand and let them just build up (unfortunately it was a small audience I suppose) and between some of the prospects, Samus managed to win out. Other awesome options were Luna Lovegood, LeeLoo (5th element), even Xena! (Which I want to do all of the ones that were asked, but in time I'm sure...) We went through my entire painting process - albeit quickly because it was for a lunch demo - it enhances my policy of 'teach what you've learned to others' that so many others passed onto me when I first started.
